Welcome to ACM UVIC. Student Chapters provide unique opportunities for networking, mentoring, and bonding over common interests. They provide support both within the student community and to local communities outside the institution.
ACM stands for the Association for Computing Machinery and provides a space in which students and professionals within the computing domain (e.g. primarily computer science) can attend events, network, and learn about their field.
We have created a student chapter for UVic as we believe there is value in introducing computer science as a domain to broader student ranges. We are passionate about demonstrating to students that they can apply computer science skills and knowledge across all domains and that a thorough computer science background is not required to work in the field. With this chapter, we aim to host events that bring together students from multiple disciplines and allow them to learn more about computer science and its potential applications in various fields.
